Miami, FL, February 27, 2014  Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), today announced the renewal of its master affiliation with Starwood Vacation Ownership, Inc. (SVO), a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT). The long-term agreement extends the relationship established in 2000 and includes 19 shared ownership properties, as well as future resorts.

Its Westin St. John Resort & Villas on St. John, USVI, is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation that includes the conversion of 79 guestrooms into 54 luxury vacation ownership villas. The new project overlooks Great Cruz Bay, with expected occupancy beginning in spring 2015. Upon completion, there will be a total of 200 villas set on the resort’s lush landscape. Guests will also enjoy the enhancements to a number of the amenities, including the quarter-acre swimming pool, fitness center, spa, and dining facilities.

The property was built by Alfonso Montes, a widely respected residential and commercial developer in the region.

“We’re very pleased the Interval Exchange Tracker, a key feature of the Interval Sales Tool Kit app, was recognized as the year’s best innovation,” said Jay Wilson, Interval’s vice president of resort sales and service. “The Exchange Tracker’s nearly real time display of actual exchange activity adds a new layer of transparency to timeshare sales presentations, which appeals to a new generation of buyers.”

Available for download from Apple’s App Store and at IntervalWorld.com, the Exchange Tracker shows on an interactive world map the ever-changing patterns of vacation exchange activity across Interval’s network of quality resorts. Animated lines illustrate exchanges and a scrolling ticker along the bottom displays the member’s first name and the name and location of the confirmed resort. The Exchange Tracker is just one component of Interval’s Sales Tool Kit App, which also includes the Interval HD video channel and a sales-friendly digital Resort Directory with high-quality images and detailed property and destination information.

Hidden within the maze of narrow lanes, Mahagiri Vacation Club is laid out in the tradition of a Balinese village and constructed in the local style with stone walls and thatched palm roofs. The luxury complex has 18 units set within beautifully landscaped gated grounds and is linked by paths to a full-service restaurant and spa. Guests are a short walk from a white-sand beach, legendary for its spectacular sunrises.

Miami, FL, January 13, 2014 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services, and its participating member resorts recently made a $50,000 donation to the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF). Neil Kolton, Interval’s director of resort sales and service for the Caribbean and Florida, presented the check to foundation executives during the opening ceremony of Caribbean Travel Marketplace. 

“Interval and its resort partners have been among our most consistent contributors through the years and we are very grateful for their commitment to the foundation,” said Richard S. Kahn, chairman of CHTAEF. “Supporting the region’s tourism and hospitality talent ensures that future leaders are developed and creates a stronger industry as a result.”

“The motivation to launch a fundraising effort for this worthwhile cause originated from our desire to help young people further their education to advance their career. We are proud to say that working with our member resorts we have been able to exceed our expectations and become the largest private-sector contributor to the foundation,” said Kolton.

Situated on the Atlantic Coast in the town of Santiago de Tolú, the fractional property is being built by Al Proyectar S.A., an established shared ownership developer in Colombia.

Visitors to St. Maarten Contribute Year-round to Island’s Economy  

 

Miami, Florida, November 21, 2013  Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), today announced that vacation owners and their guests who travel to St. Maarten stay an average of 10.9 nights and spend more off site than on property for a variety of expenditures. In addition, their average annual household income is reported to be more than $147,000, reinforcing the affluent nature of timeshare owners who visit the island.

These are some of the findings from the St. Maarten Timeshare Owner, Exchanger, and Guest Survey, which was co-sponsored by Interval International and the St. Maarten Timeshare Association (SMTA). The report was compiled by the Shared Ownership Services division of HVS, a leading hotel consulting and valuation firm.

“Interval has a long-standing commitment to the Caribbean, one of the most highly demanded international travel destinations for its U.S.-resident members,” said Neil Kolton, Interval’s director of resort sales and service for the Caribbean and Florida. “We’re very pleased to provide this valuable research that shows vacation owners and exchangers spend generously while in St. Maarten.  It’s also interesting to note that average expenditures and length of stay remain consistent between high and low seasons, reflecting a steady economic impact.”

“As the survey indicates, timeshare owners are contributing appreciably to the island economy in many areas as it relates to on property and off property purchases,” said Ricardo Perez, general manager of Oyster Bay Beach Resort and SMTA board member. “While their spending supports local businesses, we’re also very encouraged by the large number of respondents — 90 percent — who expressed their desire to return to St. Maarten for future vacations.”

Other notable findings from the survey include:

  • The majority of respondents were from the U.S. and Canada (88 and 6 percent, respectively)
  • About 30 percent had household incomes greater than $150,000
  • Average age was 60.6 years
  • Average travel party size was 3.3 persons
  • Those aged 41 to 55 spent the most on entertainment and nightlife (average of $359 combined for both on and off premises)
  • Average spend for off-premise dining was $631 (82 percent more than on site)
  • Spending for groceries was $261 (50 percent more than on premises)
  • The off premises shopping average per respondent was $794 (130 percent more than on-site)

 

Interval International conducted the online survey of its members who own timeshare on St. Maarten and/or visited within the last three years. In addition, the SMTA forwarded the survey to other timeshare owners and their guests who previously visited the destination. The fielding period was July 10 - September 5, 2013 and there were more than 5,000 survey respondents.

WHO VALUE THEIR VACATION OWNERSHIP

 

London, 24 October 2013 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), today revealed that its UK members travel extensively, find holiday ownership satisfying, and more than half own multiple weeks of shared ownership time or its equivalent. Members also report average household incomes of approximately £63,650 per year and a third own a second home – apart from their holiday ownership.

These findings are from the Interval International 2013 UK Membership Profile, which was developed from a sample of UK-resident vacation owners maintaining an active Interval membership. The online study was undertaken to provide insights for use in the development of services and benefits to be offered to Interval members and may be useful to resort developers and prospective industry entrants in designing products and developing marketing strategies.

“With the results of the 2013 profile broadly in line with that of the 2011 member study and showing that going on holiday remains a high priority for our members, developers can look forward to welcoming more vacation owners to their resorts,” said Darren Ettridge, Interval’s senior vice president of resort sales and business development for Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa. “It is also interesting to note that our members make full use of their leisure time and have a diverse range of future travel plans.”

Interval’s UK members spend approximately 28 nights away from home travelling solely for leisure purposes. Additionally, study respondents indicate a penchant to travel across the European continent during the course of the next two years, boding well for future holiday ownership purchases. Further afield, they have a very strong desire to visit the USA and Canada and the Caribbean.    

Respondents desiring to purchase additional vacation time remain most interested in the two-bedroom configuration, with more than half (57 percent) citing a preference for that unit type.  Purchase price, the annual maintenance fee commitment and the luxury of the unit represent the three most influential factors in the decision making process.

 

Other notable findings from the 2013 UK Membership Profile include:

  • Approximately 82 percent of Interval’s UK members report satisfaction with their timeshare ownership.  
  • Seven out of 10 acquired their timeshare interests from resort project developers and management companies.
  • An estimated 48 percent of leisure travel nights are spent travelling across the UK and Ireland with the remaining 52 per cent devoted to international travel.
  • The average length of a leisure holiday outside of the UK is estimated to be 8.5 nights.
  • Almost half of Interval’s UK members would be interested in taking a cruise during the next two years.
  • UK members prefer relatively less-strenuous activities on holiday with shopping, swimming, sightseeing and spending time in a spa rating highly.

London, 11 September 2013 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), announced the affiliation of 21 timeshare units at Residence La Splazaa seasonal ski and summer resort in the Italian Alps. The new units are located in Scala N, part of the well-established development in the popular Montecampione ski resort near Boario and Lake Iseo in Valcamonica, one of the largest valleys in the eastern Lombardy region of Italy.

Located at an altitude of 1200 metres or nearly 4,000 feet, the destination is renowned for its downhill and freestyle skiing and snowboarding from mid-December to the beginning of April. During the summer season, hiking, tennis, and golf are popular activities.

The complex features a number of on-site and nearby facilities that are available depending on the season: ice skating rink, pool, gym, playground, soccer pitch and basketball, as well as tennis and volleyball courts.  Guests also have access to restaurants and bars, a market, pharmacy and shops, and an intra-resort minibus service. The units that are part of Interval’s network include studios and one- and two-bedrooms and are housed in a new building adjacent to the main ski lift. Each has a kitchen and balcony.

"We are excited about this expansion to our existing resort, so that we can welcome more guests to this beautiful part of the Italian Alps," said Alessio Rocchetti, managing director of Edilombarda06 Srl, developers of the resort. Miami, FL, August 28, 2013 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), continues to strengthen its commitment to the growth of shared ownership in Brazil through valuable regional research and renowned investment conferences.

Marcos Agostini, Interval’s senior vice president of resort sales and business development for Latin America, said, “A decade of economic growth in Brazil has created a new generation of travelers, who include millions of middle class consumers. They have the means and the desire to travel and want to vacation in new ways. That’s what shared ownership products can offer these consumers.”

To support resort developers and prospective new entrants to the business, Interval commissioned the Shared Ownership 2012: A Market Perspective – Brazil Edition, a study that provides in-depth information about the demographic characteristics, vacation habits, and intentions of leisure travelers who reside in the market. The survey, which validates the growth potential for shared ownership in the country, was produced exclusively for Interval by Ipsos Reid, one of the world’s leading survey-based market research firms.

Interval created the Shared Ownership Investment Conferences in 1998 to educate developers, hoteliers, lenders, and government officials about resort development opportunities, and has sponsored many successful events around the world. The area is known for the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, which features a one-of-a-kind “sandscape” encompassing 580 square miles of white-sand dunes, lagoons, and mangroves.
