1976 - Interval International
opens for business.
1977 - Interval purchases the Condo Vac
Network, with 28 resorts, and by year-end has affiliated a total of 60
member resorts with 10,000 consumer members.
1978 - The consumer membership triples
to 30,000 with 130 member resorts.
1980 - An IBM Computer system and toll
free telephone lines are installed. Consumer membership increases to 80,000
with 250 resorts.
1981 - Interval World Travel - today called
Interval Travel is established.
1982 - The Interval International Five
Star Award
® Program is launched.
1984 - Interval affiliates its 500th member
resort.
Inc magazine selects Interval International as one of the 500
fastest-growing privately owned companies in the United States.
1985 - The consumer membership increases
to 225,000. The Quality Rating System (QRS) is introduced.
1987 - Interval International and Worldex
Travel Centers move into their new World Headquarters building in South
Miami. Interval introduces WorldCard Preferred, the industry’s first membership
upgrade program and the predecessor of Interval and Interval Gold
®.
1988 - Leaguestar plc acquires Interval
International and Worldex Travel Centers. Dual Exchange is implemented,
giving consumer members a choice of Deposit First or Request First vacation
exchange methods.
1990 - Marriott Ownership Resorts, Inc.
affiliates its resort system with Interval International’s exchange network.
1992 - Polo Towers in Las Vegas, Nevada,
becomes Interval International’s 1,000th member resort. On December 11,
Leaguestar plc and most of its subsidiaries, including Interval International,
are acquired by CUC International Inc.
1993 - Craig M. Nash, then Interval’s president
and chief executive officer, receives the Resort Industry Executive of
the Year Award from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA).
1995 - Interval launches the industry’s
first interactive Web site, www.interval-intl.com. Individual membership
exceeds 600,000.
1996 - Interval International celebrates
its 20th anniversary and introduces the first CD-ROM resort directory.
1997 - Interval Resort & Financial Services
(IRFS) is created as an affiliated company of Interval International.
In conjunction with a merger involving CUC, Interval International is
divested to an independent investment group.
1998 - ARDA bestows a Leader of the Year
Award upon Craig M. Nash.
1999 - Interval welcomes its one-millionth
consumer member, introduces cruise exchange as an Interval Preferred option,
and launches its IntervalWorld.com and ResortDeveloper.com Web sites.
2000 - The first phase of Interval’s new
Member Services Center opens in Miami. Online services expand to include
Web-based self-service travel solutions for members.
2001 - Interval International celebrates
its 25th anniversary.
2002 - Interval International is purchased
by USA Interactive, the world’s leading interactive commerce company.
(USA Interactive changes name to IAC effective June 23, 2003.)
Interval Preferred relaunches as Interval Gold.
2003 - Interval's consumer membership exceeds 1.5 million families and its global network includes more than 2,000 affiliated resorts.
2004 - Caribbean Hotel Association names Interval International to lead newly formed timeshare committee.
2005 - Interval opens offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Toronto, Canada.
2006 - Interval celebrates 30th anniversary.
2007- Interval Acquisition Corp., an affiliated company of Interval International, acquires RQI Holdings, LLC, owner of ResortQuest Hawaii, LLC. Interval International and Preferred Hotel Group launch Preferred Residences, a luxury, branded membership and exchange program.
